the “Scribbler”

The Scribbler has proven to be one of Leon Drexler’s more popular hats, a textbook fedora whose proportions and style seem to suit a wide variety of customers. Urbane yet rugged, it is a hat that can deftly straddle that boundary between well considered dress and macho nonchalance—sort of Captain Hastings meets Indiana Jones. Its key defining feature is a deep, organic bash in the crown with an irregularly rippled edge. This random note is picked up in the bow which is given a relaxed, hand-tied look. With its full, sturdy crown and medium wide brim, the Scribbler is also a very functional hat—a great thing to have on your head when you get caught in the rain (something you might accidentally do on purpose once you own one). The character of this hat also makes it an excellent candidate for Leon Drexler’s welterweight modification and linen lining, perfect for those seeking a somewhat lighter, cooler and softer version.
